A little about me: My name is Angie Cruz-Betancourt, and I was born in August 22,1995 in Palmira, Colombia. At the age of ten I migrated with my mother and my sister to the United States. It wasn’t easy to start a new life without my father, and also to learn a new language. During my first school year in the U.S. it wasn’t easy to make friends, since I was very shy and also because of the different cultures in just one room. However, over time I got adjusted to the “American” life and learned to read and write English. After seven years in the United States the most wanted and unforgettable year in my life arrived: 2013. During this year my father migrated to the United States to reunite with my family, and I also graduated from the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering High School. After graduating high school, I enrolled at Manchester Community College, where I’m currently studying to get my Media Communication Associate Degree. In addition to going to college, I also work part time at Shop Rite as a cashier. My motivation every day is to do my best, and never forget where I came from.
